Washington DC<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Los senadores estadounidenses Ron Wyden y Jeff Merkley anunciaron hoy que la Universidad Estatal de Oregon recibir\u00e1 m\u00e1s de $642,000 del Departamento de Agricultura de EE. UU. para desarrollar una herramienta que diagnostique enfermedades invasivas en plantas nativas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOreg\u00f3n es l\u00edder en el cultivo de alimentos y follaje que fortalecen y enriquecen nuestras vidas, desde frutas, bayas y avellanas hasta trigo, brotes de plantas y semillas de c\u00e9sped\u201d. <\/strong>dijo Wyden. \u201cInnumerables productos cultivados en Oreg\u00f3n se env\u00edan a todo el mundo, y me complace ver que los fondos federales se destinan a prevenir y tratar enfermedades da\u00f1inas de las plantas para que los agricultores de clase mundial de Oreg\u00f3n puedan continuar apoyando los empleos y el crecimiento econ\u00f3mico de nuestro estado, beneficiando a las familias de Oreg\u00f3n por muchas generaciones.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Las enfermedades de las plantas representan amenazas significativas para la agricultura. El monitoreo es un paso crucial en la prevenci\u00f3n de enfermedades y requiere pruebas de diagn\u00f3stico asequibles, sensibles y espec\u00edficas, especialmente para detectar nuevas variantes o cepas. OSU desarrollar\u00e1 un bajo costo CRISPR<\/a>-herramienta de diagn\u00f3stico basada en capaz de ser utilizada en el campo para diagnosticar pat\u00f3genos de plantas. OSU planea usar el $642,301 del Instituto Nacional de Alimentos y Agricultura para expandir las herramientas basadas en CRISPR y desarrollar recursos y protocolos basados en la web para prevenir y abordar plagas y enfermedades de las plantas para un uso generalizado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
