Washington, D.C. – Oregon’s U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley and Montana’s U.S. Senator Steve Daines teamed up in a bipartisan effort to mark the 30el anniversary of the normalization of relations between the United States and Vietnam.
“Vietnam is a critical partner to the United States, and only together will we be able to tackle the multi-faceted challenges of this century,” dijo Merkley. “Our bipartisan resolution reaffirms Congress’ commitment to sustaining a productive bilateral relationship with Vietnam, strengthening not only the relationship between our governments but also between the peoples of our countries.”
“This year, as the U.S. and Vietnam celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations, we celebrate the strides our two nations have taken as allies and the bright future of our partnership. I visited Vietnam in March, and have a deep appreciation for our shared interests and goals. I’m proud to introduce this resolution with Senator Merkley to recognize the importance of our strategic relationship in defense, trade and diplomacy,” said Daines.
