Legisladores de Oregón aplauden la reubicación de la oficina de correos de Forest Grove

WASHINGTON, DC [06/21/16] – Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Forest Grove Mayor Peter B. Truax applauded the United States Postal Service (USPS) for announcing a new retail location for the Forest Grove Post Office.

USPS announced the Forest Grove Post Office would be relocated to 2214 Pacific Avenue, the former location of the NAPA Auto Parts store. This announcement comes after USPS held a public meeting and sought comments from members of the community on relocating retail services to a new location. Earlier this year, the lawmakers called on the USPS to resolve the current building’s deficiencies.

“I saw that workers and customers at the Forest Grove Post Office were in a dilapidated building, and I know the vibrant, growing community deserves better,” dijo la congresista Bonamici. “A Post Office should be a safe and welcoming place for its employees and customers, and the Forest Grove facility is not meeting those expectations. The Postal Service listened to the concerns of the community and chose a new location that works for everyone. I look forward to continuing to work with the Postal Service, Mayor Truax, and Senators Wyden and Merkley to make the transition as smooth as possible.”

“I am gratified the Postal Service has responded to the residents and businesses in Forest Grove, which very much deserves a Post Office large enough to serve a growing community safely and effectively,” dijo el senador Wyden. “I am proud to have worked with Forest Grove officials, Senator Merkley and Congresswoman Bonamici to achieve a fully functioning Post Office that will provide Forest Grove with improved services for a long time to come.”

“The post office is the heart of a small community, and Forest Grove deserves a post office location that helps their community to thrive,” dijo el senador Merkley. “I’m pleased that the U.S. Postal Service has listened to local concerns and taken action to find a new location, and I look forward to seeing a vibrant and fully functional post office in Forest Grove again soon.”

“The City of Forest Grove is very pleased with the instrumental leadership provided by Senators Wyden and Merkley, and Representative Bonamici. They were critical to getting this done. I am also grateful to the US Postal Service for their concern, not only for the improvement of the amenities for our customers, but also as a worksite for their employees,” said Forest Grove Mayor Truax.
