Washington, DC – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley today announced he will be serving on the following subcommittees of the Appropriations Committee:
Subcommittee on Interior and Environment,
Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education,
Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science,
Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration, and
Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch.
“These subcommittees provide an excellent opportunity to fight for Oregon in key areas, including education, health care, trade, farming and timber,” said Senator Merkley. “I look forward to coming up to speed and partnering with my colleagues to create good jobs and a thriving economy.”
In December, Senator Merkley announced he would join the Senate Appropriations Committee. Senator Merkley is the second Oregon Senator ever to serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee. The first was Senator Mark Hatfield, who chaired the powerful committee and for whom Senator Merkley interned as a college student.
