Washington, DC– Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley issued the following statement after Oracle announced it will begin manufacturing its high-end servers and storage systems at one of the five facilities it operates in Oregon.
“I say this wherever I go: on a level playing field, Oregon workers and companies can compete with any company in the world. Today’s announcement by Oracle is testament to that, and part of a larger pattern of onshoring jobs back to the United States. That’s encouraging and a trend we need to accelerate. If we don’t build things in America we won’t have a middle class in America.”
Senator Merkley is a champion of American manufacturing. Last year, Senator Merkley held a statewide “Made in Oregon” tour, finding out what works and what doesn’t work for Oregon manufacturers, and what we can do to expand Oregon manufacturing.
