Oregon’s U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden today announced that the Klamath Falls community will receive $3 million in federal funds to build an Apprenticeship and Industrial Trades Center—which is expected to create 166 jobs and generate $677,000 in private investment.
“As we continue to grapple with the deepening coronavirus crisis, we must make the critical investments in our workforce that will help us pave a path toward a prosperous future,” said Merkley. “I’m pleased that this funding is headed to Klamath Falls, and will continue to advocate for the federal resources and support that will make a real difference for Southern Oregonians.”
“As communities across Oregon continue to deal with the unique and devastating economic challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, more needs to be done to support working families,” Wyden said. “This investment couldn’t have come at a better time to create good-paying jobs in the Basin.”
The funding, which is being administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration, will be matched with $3.4 million in funding from the state of Oregon.
