Oregon senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley both voted Thursday to confirm Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court.
“As as our nation’s first Hispanic justice, this is a historic confirmation,” Merkley said in a statement after the vote.
“Her diverse background and set of life experiences give her valuable insight into the real world application of the law and complement her careful, well-reasoned judicial approach. I’m very proud to have supported her confirmation,” he said.
