Merkley on CBO Report: “Once Again, More than 20 Million Americans Stand to Lose Care”
“The cruelty of this plan is breathtaking. Senators are supposed to come here to make our constituents’ lives better, not to destroy them.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley issued the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released their report on the Senate Republicans’ latest bill taking away health care from millions:
“This Congressional Budget Office report shows that once again, more than 20 million Americans stand to lose care under the Republican health care plan, with 15 million losing their health care within the next year alone.
“The cruelty of this plan is breathtaking. Senators are supposed to come here to make our constituents’ lives better, not to destroy them. Here’s my advice to my Republican colleagues: Take this last chance to put a stake through the heart of this horrific bill, before it destroys health care for millions of America’s children, seniors and working and struggling families.”
