Merkley Slams Trump Budget
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley released the following statement in response to the initial budget released by the Trump Administration:
“It’s said that a budget is a statement of values. If so, this budget makes it perfectly clear that the Trump Administration values special interests and defense contractors over American middle-class families.
“This budget is an attack on our families’ most essential needs, from the clean air and water we breathe and drink, to the schools our kids attend, to the very investments that create American jobs.
“Trump ran on a promise to drain the swamp and put working families first. But this budget doubles down on the same failed, rigged system that rewards special interest lobbying over the needs of real people.”
