Merkley Statement on Finalized HHS Contraception Ruling

Portland, OR – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley issued a statement following the announcement by the Department of Health and Human Services of a final rule on preventive health services.  The new rule will ensure that women with health insurance coverage will have access to the full range of the Institute of Medicine’s recommended preventive services, including all FDA-approved forms of contraception.

“This is good news for both women and their families.  The science on this issue is clear: contraception yields significant health benefits. I am pleased the full range of health services will now be available to women without extra co-pays or deductibles.”
