Merkley Statement on State Director Jon Isaacs
Portland – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley issued the
following statement on the departure of his State Director and long time advisor Jon Isaacs. After five years working side
by side with Merkley, Isaacs is leaving his post in early August to take a
well-deserved break with his wife and young son.
“Jon has been an instrumental member of my team for half a decade. Jon’s political instincts and leadership were a key factor in building the Democratic majority in the Oregon House, which created the foundation for the extraordinary progress we made on education, the economy, the environment, energy, health care and consumer protection during the 2007 session. I was also fortunate to have Jon lead my campaign for the U.S. Senate, head up my transition team following the election and build my Oregon Senate staff as State Director over the last six months. In every role, he has done an exceptional job.
“Jon’s drive and brilliant management are unrivaled. I will continue to rely on him for wise counsel, and will always be indebted to him for his service to our state. ”
