Merkley Statement on Tragedy in Haiti
Grants Pass, Oregon – Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley issued the following statement on last night’s earthquake in Haiti:
“Like all Americans, I was shocked to see the images of devastation in Haiti following last night’s cataclysmic disaster. Haiti has suffered so much as a nation and now must confront untold loss. Today, Mary and I are making a donation to Mercy Corps to help in relief efforts. I know that many Oregonians will join me. Every donation of any kind will make a difference to the victims.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti.”
The White House and State Department have updated information on how Americans can assist the relief efforts or find information about family members in Haiti.
