COQUILLE, Ore. — Senator Jeff Merkley held a town hall meeting in Coquille Thursday to answer questions from community members.
One attendee pointed out that the senator’s website shows a priority for dredging sandbars.
With crabbing season underway and a recent boat capsizing because of a sandbar, this person wanted to know what the senator could do.
“The Corps of Engineers has a plan,” the Oregon Democrat said. “We weigh in, and so I’ve got to look into this specific port. I’m not sure if they aren’t part of the Corps of Engineers program and we can get them on to it or if they got missed.”
Merkley says he will look into the issue.
