Merkley Statement on Death of Senator Daniel Inouye
Washington, DC- Oregon’s Senator Jeff Merkley issued the following statement on news of the death of Senator Daniel Inouye.
“Senator Daniel Inouye was an American hero and his death is a huge loss for the Senate. I’ve admired him since I came here as an intern in 1976 to work for his good friend, Senator Hatfield. Senator Inouye lived a life of unparalleled contributions to America. His valor during WWII is the stuff of legend, for which he appropriately received the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest honor. His contributions to good public policy, over five decades in the Senate, are astounding.
“It has been a privilege to serve with Dan Inouye and we will miss him greatly in the Senate.”
