Senator Merkley and Representative Takano led the bicameral reintroduction of the Equality Act, which would provide civil rights protections based on gender identity and sexual orientation. As LGBTQ+ Americans—particularly transgender people—remain under attack in the halls of government and in our communities, passing these protections has never been more important.
Senator Jeff Merkley questioned David Perdue, Trump’s nominee to be Ambassador to China, about China’s human rights abuses and the dismantling of Voice of America, among other topics.
